Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
A skilled and dedicated Electrical/Electronic Technician to join the Trackless Mining Machine (TMM) related projects. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in Electronic and Electrical systems, TMM maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. As an Electrical/Electronic Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of machines, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Job Requirements:

• Completed a vocational education NQF 5 in Electrical or Industrial Electronic
Engineering or a closely related field.
• Trade certificate.
• Certificate of Fitness
• Understanding & application of Health & Safety Principles
• 2 – 10 years of proven experience as an Electrical or Electronic Technician or
similar role, demonstrating expertise in diagnosing and repairing to detail level
electronic equipment.
• Experience in maintenance of electrical machines
• Possess knowledge of machine repairs and troubleshooting in a mining
environment
• Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe
working environment

Technical Work Responsibility:

• Perform comprehensive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on TMM, including support rigs (Bolters), drill rigs and dozers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Collaborate with the maintenance manager and mining operations teams to prioritize and execute maintenance schedules, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted mining operations.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking conditions of harnesses, conditions of various connectors, conditions of electrical and electronic components.
• Conduct fault finding and replacing of faulty modules on all DOK-ING equipment.
• Interpret technical manuals, electrical drawings, and electrical and schematics to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair tasks, including parts used and labour hours.

• Recommend upgrades, modifications, and improvements to enhance equipment performance, efficiency, and safety.
• Assist in sourcing and procuring replacement parts and supplies from site stores, ensuring an adequate inventory for timely repairs.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety within the workshop and amongst the team.
Collaborate with other electrical technicians and engineers as well as mechanical technicians to implement continuous improvement initiatives and technical innovations.

Health & Safety Management:
• Participate actively in the health & safety programme.
• Ensure that the correct PPE is used where required.
• Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness in all areas.
• Report all incidents or accidents.
